Description
First domesticated from its wild relative, Glycine soja, Soyabean originated between 7000 to 6600 BC in China. From thereon, Soyabean spread to Japan and Korea. ISoyabean arrived in the Indian subcontinent throught the Northeast region during the Silk route and gained more momentum and widespread cultivation during the 1600s.
Containing 35% to 40% protein, 20% lipids and 9% dietary fibre, Soyabean is a powerhouse of nutritients. An important source of plant protein, Soyabean also has good amounts of isoflavanoids and folic acid. A sturdy grain, Soyabean is anti-diabetic, anti-inflammatory and contains adequate amounts of calcium, iron and zinc. Soyabean can be helpful for menopausal women in combating symptoms like reduction in bone degenerative diseases and lessening of hot flashes.
