    Description

    Developed by Dr. Monika Garg and her team at NABI (National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute) in Mohali, Punjab, this wheat variety was cross-bred and bio-fortified with anthocyanin which gives it a deep colour. 

    OOO Farms' Kala Gehu has been grown on mountains, by tribal farmers, with saved first generation seeds that were distribute to them.

    Kala Gehu is a variety of pigmented wheat developed by crossing purple and blue wheat. It possesses higher protein content, dietary fiber, calcium, Vitamin K, total flavonoid and phenolic content, and antioxidant activity than the conventional yellow wheat

    Consumption of whole Kala Gehu leads to prevention of cardiovascular disease, inflammation, cancer, diabetes, obesity, aging and large bowel protection.

    Gluten strength in Kala Gehu is sufficient for development of bakery products.
