From Forest To Classroom Fundraiser
About the Fundraiser
Every year, the OOO Farms Wild Food Festival in collaboration with The Locavore celebrates the incredible food knowledge of Adivasi communities from the Sahyadris—communities that have safeguarded wild food traditions across generations. But beyond the delicious forest-foraged ingredients and joyful dancing, this festival is deeply rooted in relationships. You can buy tickets to Wild Food Festival 2025 to be held on 23rd August in Mumbai HERE
This year, we’re asking you to support something equally important: the children from the very communities that make the festival possible.
WHO WE ARE RAISING FUNDS FOR
The fundraiser supports Prabha Hira Gandhi High School, Vadoli, Maharashtra, attended by children from the Kokni, Warli, and Mahadeo Koli communities—many of whom belong to the same families who bring wild foods, crafts, and performances to the festival each year.
The school currently serves 120 students in grades 7–10. But like many rural schools, it lacks basic infrastructure and resources.
WHY YOUR SUPPORT MATTERS
Here is what the school urgently needs:
Two New Girls’ Toilets with Running Water, including girl-friendly facilities for students who currently miss school during their menstrual cycle due to a lack of safe, hygienic options. [₹ 3,00,000/-]
Pole Vault Sports Equipment - Kids from the tribal communities are a robust bunch, some of them walking upto 8 kms a day to and from school. The Headmaster recognised this as a perfect opportunity to train them in high endurance sports like Pole Vault. Training students in the Pole Vault sport would open up sports quota opportunities for them and help them have a more secure future including higher education and stable jobs. After the Girls’ Sanitation Facilities, this part of the fundraiser is very important. [₹ 2,00,000/-]
Restoration of the water supply for the entire school building. [₹ 3,00,000/-]
Uniforms for the upcoming academic year, so no child is excluded for lack of clothing. [₹ 1,80,000/-]
Stationery and Textbooks, including notebooks, pencils, and subject-wise textbook sets.
+ Wild Food Learning Materials, including custom-designed workbooks, posters, and charts that reflect the children's own food systems and knowledge. [₹ 1,62,000/-]
A Projector, so teachers can conduct visual educational learning—especially helpful where teacher training is limited. [₹ 1,00,000/-]
Travel and Delivery Support, to get these materials and services to the school. [₹ 50,000/-]
A Small Contingency Fund, to ensure last-mile execution. [₹ 1,29,200/-]

Why The Prabha Hira Gandhi High School?
Because this is where the next generation of Wild Food stewards is growing up. These are the children of the farmers, foragers, and seed savers who walk with us through the forests of Jawhar and Dahanu. By supporting their education, we’re investing not only in their futures—but in the future of India’s food systems, forests, and local knowledge.
This isn't Charity. It’s Solidarity.
How You Can Help
We are aiming to raise ₹12,92,000 (Twelve Lakhs Ninety Two Thousand) to fulfill all the needs listed above before the end of August.
Every contribution—big or small—makes a difference.
Please donate, spread the word, and help us honour the communities that feed us in more ways than one.
